Certified Professional Doula

Doula Training Program

Aims Continuing Education and the Allo™ Doula Academy are excited to offer this comprehensive Certified Professional Doula program; a comprehensive program to prepare students to work as professional doulas.

The Certified Professional Doula Program is the first of its kind in the US, offering a full-spectrum training that includes clinical experience and skills-based training and is accredited through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Program Overview:

  • Stages of pregnancy and birth
  • Postpartum mother and baby care
  • Support measures and protocols
  • Bereavement support
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Bloodborne Pathogens and Universal Precautions Certification
  • Clinical Rotations (in-home and health-care setting)
  • Doula certification exam

In-Class Sessions

In-class sessions are 4 hours per week for 15 weeks, and include skills-based training.

Online Learning

A big portion of the course is self-study and completed online.

Clinical Experience

All students complete 75 hours of clinical experience in the hospital setting and in the client's home.

Fall Schedule

Schedule: Wednesdays,  August 28 - December 11, 1-5 p.m., Greeley Campus 

                   Thursdays, August 29 - December 12, 5:30-9:30 p.m., Hybrid 

Clinical Placement: Allo Doula Academy coordinates clinical placements based on the clinical site's and the students specific schedule

Certification: Upon completion of the course requirements and certification exam (included in costs)

Cost: $5500

FAQ's

Since this is a non-credit program, students do not need to apply through Aims.  Students will however, be asked to fill out an application found through the "Apply Today" buttons found on this webpage.

The following is required in the application: 

  • identifying information (name, address, etc.)
  • personal and professional questions
  • personal letter of recommendation
  • professional letter of recommendation
  • copy of government issued photo identification (driver’s license or passport)
  • proof of high school diploma or GED

If the application is accepted, the applicant will be invited to a phone interview with Allo training staff. Training staff will follow predetermined interview questions for all applicants. Training staff and administrators will make the final decision for applicant acceptance into the program after interviews are completed. Applicants will be notified within 7 days of the interview if they are accepted into the program.

  • WIOA funds through your local Employment Services.  You can check for eligibility here- https://cdle.colorado.gov/wioa-js  Scroll down and click "Eligibility Information''.   If you think you are qualified, you will want to sign up at connectingcolorado.com to get started and then call your local office.

     

  • Title 3 RUN funding which is a COVID relief funding.  Title 3 Run eligibility requirements:
    1.  The customer or someone in their household must have had a negative financial COVID impact (furloughed without pay, got sick with COVID and sick leave didn't cover all or any of it, work hours were reduced, etc.); or the customer had an educational disruption (had registered for classes and couldn't attend due to remote - technology issues)
    2. The training has to be 12 months or less in length and result in an industry recognized credential
    3. The credential has to be for an "in-demand" career (our staff has to provide proof of this) and the customer's goal is to enter the workforce immediately after the training is completed

*Since this program is a non-credit program, Federal Funding (through FASFA) can not be used.

Payment is due within the first two weeks of the program start date but we will be flexible as funding options can take some time. Please communicate your plan with the Aims Continuing Education team.

We are happy to set up monthly payments that take place throughout the length of your program (4-5 months).  The last payment will be due before the end of the program.
