Apply to Study Abroad

The Aims Study Abroad program has limited space, and you must complete an application to be considered. 

Prepare to Apply

Prior to beginning this application, students are encouraged to:

  1. Review the courses offered through the Study Abroad Ireland Program.

  2. Meet with your advisor to understand how the study abroad course(s) fits into your degree or certificate plans. Note your advisor’s name and email address, as this information is required for this application.

  3. Request a faculty member to serve as a reference for your participation in a study abroad program. Note the faculty member’s name and email address, as this information is required for this application.

  4. Review the process for obtaining or renewing a passport valid through December 2026. Students do not need a passport to complete this Eligibility Screening application; however, students without a passport will not be able to enroll in the study abroad program. Passport processing times can take up to eight weeks. Click here for information on applying for a passport.
  5. Think about why you want to study abroad and how it will impact your education and/or career. You will be required to write a brief statement (400 words or less) for this application.

Conditions for Eligibility

Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the study abroad program:

  • 18 years old at the time of departure (June 2, 2026)
  • Hold a passport valid through December 2026
  • In Academic Good Standing
  • Able to pass disciplinary/conduct history screening
  • Able to receive a recommendation from a faculty member

Additional Requirements

Note that the following steps are required for this application to be approved. Be sure to follow instructions to ensure your application is complete.

  • Speak to an advisor to understand how enrolling in a study abroad course may affect your degree or certificate plans.
  • Receive a recommendation from a faculty member who can attest to your participation and behavior (i.e., provide a “character reference”).
  • Write a motivational statement (400 words or less) describing why you want to study abroad and how it will impact your education and/or career.
  • Confirm understanding of requirements to participate in a study abroad program.

Important Dates and Deadlines

December 1, 2025: Study Abroad Eligibility Screening Deadline

Students must complete the Eligibility Screening and be approved for the study abroad program prior to enrolling in the courses offered. Courses are capped at 10 students each. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline and courses may fill prior to this deadline. Students are encouraged to complete this step early.


February 1, 2026: Student Traveler Information & Expectations Agreement Due 

Once the Eligibility Screening is approved, students will receive a link to complete this form. Study abroad seats will be reserved for students once this step is complete. If courses fill prior to this deadline, students will be placed on a waitlist.
Note: Students will begin receiving this link in July 2025 and then on a rolling basis until February 1, 2026.

The Student Traveler Information & Expectations Agreement will require the following:

  • Copy of Passport: Students will upload a copy of their passport valid through December 2026. Students who do not have a valid passport by this date will not be enrolled in the program.
  • Nonrefundable Deposit Due: Students must place a $100 deposit to reserve their seat in the study abroad program. This will be completed through the Student Traveler Information & Expectations Agreement.
  • Necessary travel information: Students will provide medical, accessibility, dietary needs; passport number, etc.
  • Course selection: Students will select 1-2 study abroad courses.
     

Cancellation Deadline: TBD

Students who have enrolled in a study abroad course and no longer wish to travel to Ireland must submit a cancellation request by the date listed above. If a cancellation request is not received, the student will be responsible for paying the balance due for enrollment.
 

April 11, 2026: Pre-Departure Orientation

Students are required to attend a pre-departure orientation. Students who do not attend this orientation will not be permitted to travel.
 

Course Drop Date: TBD

Due to the unique nature of this program, the drop date for study abroad courses may be earlier in the semester than other courses.
 

May 26, 2026: First day of courses

Remember that your course begins prior to the travel dates. Be sure to stay on top of any reading, homework, or other activities required by your instructor.
 

June 2, 2026: Leave United States

Students will be responsible for arriving at the Denver International Airport no less than two hours before our flight departs. All students and faculty will fly together to Ireland.
 

June 14, 2026: Return from Ireland

Students will fly home from Dublin together. Students will not be permitted to leave early or stay later than this date. Students are responsible for arranging transportation from the Denver International Airport.
 

Student Showcase: TBD

Students are required to participate in an in-person student showcase demonstrating what they have learned through this program. All courses will include this as part of your final grade.
