EMT Application Information

If you're not already a student, apply to Aims.

Make sure to carefully read all of the information contained on the EMT Information page.

Complete this EMT Application by filling out all information, signing forms and uploading the required CPR certification and immunization information. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.  Students must be 18 years old by the first day of class.  

Required Documents

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) only. No other certification is accepted.
• Tuberculosis (TB): T-spot or QuantiFERON blood test (PPD skin test not accepted).
• Hepatitis B: Two minimum to receive a waiver while awaiting a third vaccination.
• MMR (Measles/Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Two vaccinations are required.
• Varicella (chicken pox): Two vaccinations are required.
• Flu shot: Seasonal flu shot. Cannot be received before October 1st. Due October 15th for fall semester.

After completing the EMT Application and uploading all the required documents, you’ll receive an email with instructions for completing the background check and drug screen. 

Important Timing Information

Once you have been sent the instructions for the background check and drug screen, a hold will be placed on your seat for two weeks. If you do not complete the background check and drug screen within those two weeks, the hold will be released on your seat. You can still complete the background check and drug screen after the two weeks, but your seat may have been filled, and there is no guarantee you will be able to secure a seat in the program.

Once you have completed the background check and drug screen and it has been cleared by HR, the EMS Coordinator will send you class registration information and your information will be sent to the Success Coach team to schedule a mandatory advising session, where the Success Coaches will help you register for your classes.  You will have two weeks from your advising session to get registered.  If you have not registered or contacted the EMS department by the end of the two weeks, you will be moved to the bottom of the waiting list. 

You will receive an invitation to the mandatory advising session at your Aims student email address (@aims.edu). 

You will not be able to register for classes until you attend this mandatory advising session. 

Important Note About Class Registration

Class registration does not happen automatically when you send in the required signed documents and prerequisite paperwork. You must take action by registering for classes online through your MyAims account or in person at one of the Aims campus registration sites. These are the only options students can register for classes. 

If you need accommodations for a disability, contact Student Accessibility Services (SAS) as soon as possible to allow ample time to make appropriate accommodations. You must contact SAS to request accommodations before classes start.
