Our Vision

The Multicultural Office for Student Affinity, Inclusion and Community (MOSAIC) acknowledges that you have multiple identities, which influence and shape your college experience. We serve as a hub to support you while navigating the unique experiences historically marginalized or underrepresented communities encounter. We hope by centering your voice(s), you can establish a foundation of self-advocacy, confidence and lifelong learning, and achieve your goals and future success.

Our Mission

The MOSAIC will strive to create opportunities for shared community and belonging among all Aims  Community College students through intentionality in programming and engagement efforts. Rooted in evidence-based practices relating to belonging and student departure theory, The MOSAIC will incorporate additional theoretical frameworks and learning models to best serve and engage students and foster connections. The MOSAIC is a space for All students to be ALL IN!

What can you expect when you visit the MOSAIC:

  • Peer-to-peer engagement and conversation related to equity and justice
  • Multipurpose student conference, Interfaith prayer, meditation, and low sensory room
  • Student computers with printing capabilities
  • Support for all students
  • Assistance for students seeking out internal and external resources
  • Comfortable lounge space with TV, games, and charging stations

The MOSAIC Shared Values

We recognize that students hold multiple identities and lived experiences, while also being influenced by the environments surrounding them in their day to day lives beyond Aims. We value students and want them to be their full self.  In an effort to do so, our hope is to counter negative stereotypes and images that limit and constrain the possibilities of one’s life.

We are committed to creating a community where students feel supported, fostering a brave space that encourages individuality and is ultimately a place where students feel valued and cared for.

We are committed to providing programming and educational opportunities that are student driven and centered around historically marginalized groups.

We promote impartiality, fairness, and supporting our students by professionally responding to injustice, partiality, and unfairness, within the procedures, processes, and distribution of resources by institutions or systems. Addressing equity issues requires an understanding of the root causes of outcome disparities within our society.

We support integrated and multifaceted learning that occurs both within and outside the classroom. Learning opportunities present themselves across many contexts, moment-to-moment the roles of educator and student are constantly shifting.

We support students in using their voice and agency to accomplish their goals, share their personal experiences, re-imagine their future, and to assert their individuality.

We are committed to creating a fair, anti-discriminatory and equitable space for our students to thrive. We recognize the historical, social, and cultural differences that situate historically marginalized communities.

We are committed to being open and honest, and to critically reflect on our practices and processes as part of the institution.
