Career Academy

Get an early start on your post-secondary studies or intended career through Career Academy. Earn an academic certificate and/or an industry certification that can lead to entry-level employment. Participating Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs include these:

  • Audio/Radio Production
  • Automotive Collision Repair
  • Automotive Service Technology
  • Aviation Programs (drone, flight, air traffic control)
  • Aviation Maintenance Technician
  • Emergency Medical Technician
  • Health & Exercise
  • Med Prep
  • Welding

Career Academy is a form of Concurrent Enrollment with some unique aspects, including:

  • You must be a high school junior or senior to participate.
  • You must attend high school through a school district or charter school that has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aims specifically for the Career Academy Program.
  • Eligibility requirements apply, and seats are limited and competitive.
  • A predetermined curriculum leads to earning one or more academic certificates and/or industry certifications.
  • Classes are offered at an Aims campus (and online, depending on the program and class).
  • Programs are one-year (two semesters) in length. Students entering Career Academy as a high school junior may be able to participate in a second year, depending on the program and on the student’s continued academic success.
  • You are responsible for ensuring reliable transportation to and from campus.
  • The cost of tuition, fees*, and course materials is paid for by your school district, making Career Academy much like a scholarship.

* Aviation flight fees are not a covered cost.

Upon graduating from high school, you can return to Aims and continue studying in your program, having already completed courses that count toward additional certificates and/or a degree.
