Peace Officer Academy Application

Important Details and Application Deadlines

Aims Community College will offer a full-time Basic Peace Officer Academy during the spring 2023 semester.

The application process for this academy begins October 10, 2022.

The initial application process closes on November 11, 2022.

This academy will be limited to 18 students. To apply, you must be a minimum of 21 years of age by the start date of the academy.

Applicants sponsored by a law enforcement agency will be given priority consideration.


How to Apply to the Aims Peace Officer Academy Certificate Program

Follow the steps below to apply to the Aims Basic Peace Officer Academy Certificate program.

1. Apply to Aims Community College

Apply for admission to Aims. It's free to apply and the application takes about 15 minutes to fill out.

2. Activate Your Aims Student Email Address

3. Download the Application, Firearms and Orientation documents

  1. The Application Packet that applies to you--either sponsored (by a police department or law enforcement agency) or non-sponsored.

  4. Aims Police Academy Mandatory Orientation Certificate of Completion

4. Submit your completed application

Send your completed application, along with all required materials, to crj@aims.edu.

Overview of the Peace Officer Academy Application Process

The details outlining the application process, including required action steps and forms, are contained in your Application Packet. Following is an overview of what to expect:

Action Steps:

  • Purchase a uniform and all equipment listed in the application.
  • Write an admission essay.
  • Take and pass a physical fitness test (PFT) (non-sponsored applicants only).
  • Email the Aims Admissions Department

Items to Submit:

  • Completed Basic Peace Officer Academy Application
  • Driver's license (copy of front and back)
  • Birth certificate (photocopy)
  • Completed background investigation form (CCIC; photocopy)
  • Fingerprints (receipt proving that request was submitted)
  • Driving record
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (photocopy)
  • Proof of health insurance
  • Resume
  • College transcripts (if any; official copy)
  • High school diploma or GED (photocopy)
  • Federal form DD214 (if applicable; photocopy)
