Aims Community College Receives $1.2M COSI Grant to Help Students Complete Education, Revitalize Workforce

The Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) recently awarded Aims Community College with a $1,250,756 grant through its Finish What You Started (FWYS) program.

The grant money will be used to support scholarships, success coaching and developing career readiness skills for individuals with some college but no degree, as well as those who applied to college in 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 but did not attend. Eligible students can benefit from the funds through June 30, 2025.

COSI announced that these funds — which were awarded to institutions across Colorado — will help address significant decline in enrollments at public higher education institutions, high rates of job loss, continuing unemployment, and the overall disruption to the workforce caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This additional resource will provide financial and academic support to hundreds of prospective and current Aims students who are striving to achieve their goal of completing a credential,” said Aaron Prestwich, assistant vice president of Student Engagement, Inclusion and Success at Aims. “For those contemplating returning to college after previously stopping out, now is the time to attend Aims and finish what you once started!”

Anyone who previously attended college but did not finish, and anyone who applied to a college in the last two years but did not enroll, is eligible to receive funds. The application for the Finish What You Started program is available now on the Aims website. Those interested in receiving funds can also contact fwys@aims.edu or 970-339-6490.

More information about the FWYS program can be found on the Colorado Department of Higher Education website.
