Creating Accessible Links

Use descriptive links

Accessible links are called descriptive links, which is handy as a reminder to be descriptive when adding links. Links need to use meaningful descriptive text that clearly indicates the destination of the link.

  • Avoid writing a link that only reads "Click here" or "Learn more" with no other context.
  • Instead of writing "Click here" . . . be descriptive. For example, Our Accessibility Learning Hub will help you create web content everyone can access.

Distinguish links beyond using color

People with colorblindness cannot see some color variations in text, so make sure hyperlinks are visually distinct by also underlining them.
