Alternative Formats Benefit Everyone

Many classrooms today, both in-person and online, have students with diverse needs. Understanding unique learning needs and contextualizing each learning situation helps instructors develop connections with their students in various learning environments.

Aims is committed to supporting our students' diverse needs (e.g., gender, age, ethnicity, beliefs, culture, economic status, etc.). For example, when students are prone to eye strain or prefer listening to files instead of reading them, they can select an audio format of the content, or choose the HTML or ePub formats for easier reading on a mobile device through Ally Alternative formats.

Alternative formats provide greater opportunities for everyone to access the information they need with less stress. Alternative formats also ensure that all students have the same opportunity to meet the same learning outcomes that target the needs of each individual student.
