Aims is actively working to meet requirements set by new digital accessibility legislation, including Colorado HB21-1110 and recently updated Title II regulations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
While we have always had obligations under disability laws like the ADA, these new federal and state requirements are part of an expansion to address digital accessibility. These laws require that public institutions like Aims Community College offer digital services, programs and activities that are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Accessibility in this case is defined as meeting Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) v2.1 AA.
To ensure a seamless experience for all our users, our current efforts are focused on the following:
- Developing a plan to deliver digital experiences that meet WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines
- Being responsive to digital accessibility accommodation requests
- Ensuring third-party vendors offering digital products or services at Aims comply with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards
We are aware of some areas on the website where we could improve and appreciate your patience with this process. You can report any barriers to accessing digital content at Aims below.
