Jess Markanich is a dedicated educator and coach with a passion for physical fitness and student development. As a part-time faculty member in Physical Education at Aims Community College, she teaches courses in Weight Training, Cross Training, and Fitness Circuit Training. Jess focuses on helping students gain more knowledge about principles of training, how they can achieve their fitness goals while building confidence and lifelong healthy habits.
In addition to her role at Aims, Jess served as a Graduate Assistant Sports Performance Coach at the University of Northern Colorado, where she designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for collegiate teams, including women’s soccer, cross country, and track and field. She also works at Alliance Performance Center full-time as a Sports Performance Coach, Softball Instructor, and Head Coach of a 16U travel softball team. In this role, Jess is committed to empowering young girls on and off the field, helping them develop strength, confidence, and leadership skills to excel in the game of softball and their personal life.
Jess holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education & Health from South Dakota State University, where she was a Division I student-athlete in softball. She also earned a Master’s in Applied Exercise Science with a focus on Strength & Conditioning from Concordia University - Chicago and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Sport Coaching.
Outside of her work life, Jessica enjoys competing in lifting competitions, playing competitive slow-pitch softball, working out, and participating in Bible study. She cherishes time spent with her wife, friends, and family, finding balance and inspiration in their support and shared experiences.
With over 10 years of experience in coaching and teaching, Jess is passionate about fostering a positive, growth-oriented environment where students and athletes can reach their full potential.
