David Carrillo’s Story of Life Without Parole to a Life of Purpose | March 3 | noon-1:30 p.m. | Student Commons 114 | Greeley Campus
Join us for a powerful and unforgettable presentation with David R. Carrillo, whose life journey challenges assumptions about incarceration, education, and human potential. Sentenced to life without parole, he spent more than 30 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections, including time in solitary confinement. While incarcerated, he pursued education relentlessly — earning multiple degrees and ultimately becoming the first incarcerated individual in the United States to be hired as a college professor, teaching business and economics at Adams State University. This talk is an opportunity to hear firsthand how resilience, accountability, and education can transform lives and communities.

Comedian Mimi Hayes | March 4| 6 p.m. | Welcome Center Miller Auditorium | Greeley Campus
Aims Student Accessibility Services welcomes Colorado comedian and brain injury survivor Mimi Hayes for an evening of stand-up, storytelling and disability awareness. Hayes brings sharp, dark humor and real-life perspective, drawing from her experience recovering from two brain hemorrhages. She is the author of the memoir "I’ll Be OK, It’s Just a Hole in My Head" and has performed at venues including Denver Comedy Works and The Moth, opening for comedians such as Jim Gaffigan. Her TEDx talk, “Laughter Is NOT the Best Medicine,” and her narrative-driven comedy explore love, loss, trauma, and neurodivergence with a personal yet intentionally comedic style.  A book signing and reception begin at 6 p.m., followed by the comedy performance at 7 p.m.
