Professional Background

With his long history as a second-generation aviation maintenance professional, Michael is known for his ability to motivate and encourage employees, peers, and students and build lasting professional relationships in the aviation sector.

An innovative, results-driven leader, Michael has a proven record of success in highly competitive environments that demand continuous process improvements and cultural change. Experienced in driving quality control processes and improving customer service, he builds partnerships with key decision-makers and continually increases production at lower cost.

Previous experience includes senior leadership positions in FAA Part 135, 121, 125, and 145 operations in both Aircraft Maintenance, Operations and Safety as well as Part 147 Aviation Maintenance schools (both non-profit and proprietary education models).

Currently, as the Aviation Maintenance Chief at Aims Community College, as well as a Designated Mechanic Examiner with the FAA, he’s passionate about helping students and future technicians find their way into the aviation industry while challenging them to be not only good students, but also good employees wherever they land after their training.

Additionally, he serves on the Executive Board for the Aviation Technical Education Council, which represents, promotes and supports aviation maintenance technician education. The ultimate goal of the Council is to enable the aviation and aerospace community to meet its critical workforce needs.

Michael is an effective communicator, a strong, innovative leader and a goal setter. He enjoys utilizing his leadership qualities in teaching, guiding his staff and students through various lectures. These include many different learning mediums, challenging lab assignments and testing that engage the student not only to learn how to pass the FAA exams but to truly learn systems that allow them to gain strong mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.

A graduate of two FAA Part 147 schools and a 2nd-generation certificated aircraft maintenance technician and avionics technician, Michael brings almost 40 years of aviation experience in all facets of aviation certification, maintenance and avionics to the table in his position at Aims.  This has included airline heavy maintenance, MRO, cargo, charter, flight school and line maintenance environments, as well as educational institutions.

He possesses the true understanding, commitment and experience it takes to develop and lead an organization that can foster and produce the next generation of aviation maintenance technicians and aviation professionals.

Outside of aviation, Michael enjoys having fun with family, sports, and travel.
