Students using welding equipment in the Welding Technology Wing of the Aims Greeley campus

The Welding Technology wing is located within the Applied Technology and Trades Center on the Aims Greeley Campus. This is where students enrolled in the Welding Technology program prepare to successfully enter the welding field. Originally built in 1983 and fully renovated in 2017, the state-of-the-art facilities allow for learning in the areas of welding and cutting processes as well as print reading, fabrication, metallurgy and weld inspection.

The Welding Wing features the following spaces that equip and support training for Aims Welding Technology students:

  • Classrooms
  • Faculty offices
  • Locker rooms

Welding Lab

Room 150

The Greeley Campus Welding Lab is the primary educational space for the Welding Technology department. Fully renovated in 2017, the Welding Lab includes 40 individual welding booths outfitted with all necessary services, including:

  • Welding and cutting gases
  • State-of-the-art ventilation and fume filtration equipment
  • The most up-to-date welding equipment to ensure each student can maximize their learning with immediately employable skills.

Welding Prep Space

Room 151

The Welding Prep space is housed within the Welding Lab, which centralizes and contains all supportive processes for Welding Technology courses. Students use this space each class session to prepare their welding materials in accordance with industry standards and specifications to ensure the highest quality welds.

This space houses:

  • Manual and semi-automatic Oxy-Fuel cutting processes
  • Specially designed cutting stations for plate and pipe beveling and welding preparation
  • Plasma cutting equipment
  • Work tables
  • An abrasive blasting cabinet
  • Bench grinders

Welding Fabrication Shop

Room 180

The Greeley Welding Fabrication Shop is the final step in each student's journey and represents the culmination of your learned skills.

This space houses the majority of the department’s large industrial fabrication equipment, including a 42-ton press brake, ten-foot metal shear, 60-ton ironworker, various metal cutting saws, drills, mills, welding equipment, a 10,000-pound Overhead Crane, and one of the most advanced and capable 6-axis X-Definition CNC Plasma Cutters in Northern Colorado, capable of near-laser precision on steel more than 2" thick.

The Fabrication Shop is the primary teaching space for your final two Welding Technology Associate Degree classes and represents both challenges and progress as you begin your final preparation to enter the welding industry.

Welding Locker Rooms

Rooms 171 and 173

Locker Rooms with showers give students a convenient place for storing personal equipment between classes and for changing into and out of their protective gear necessary for working in the lab.
