“Students told us they want accessible health care on campus, and Aims listened,” said Board of Trustees Chair Marilyn Schock. “The new Center responds directly to that request by bringing medical, dental and mental health services together in one convenient location for students and their families.”
Through a partnership with Sunrise Community Health, current Aims students and their immediate family members can receive on-campus medical and dental care. Available services include primary care, wellness visits, pediatrics, same-day care, telehealth, family planning, pharmacy, laboratory services, X-rays and dental hygiene. Sunrise accepts private insurance, Health First Colorado (Medicaid), Medicare, Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+ ) and more. Fees are based on a patient’s ability to pay, and eligible patients may receive a sliding-fee discount based on household income and family size. Payment plans are also available.
Aims also provides free and confidential mental health counseling for students, along with case management, group therapy, recovery meetings and other forms of support.
The SHWC opened for student use on the first day of school in August. Aims celebrated the center on September 25 with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and an open house event.
“The Aims Student Health and Wellness Center is a symbol of our commitment to support students holistically, recognizing that educational success relies on overall well-being,” said Aims President and CEO Dr. Leah L. Bornstein.
A Purpose-Built Space for Health and Wellness
The 30,000-square-foot Student Health and Wellness Center was designed to make care visible, welcoming and convenient. A two-story glass atrium anchors the facility, which also includes flexible meeting rooms and event spaces. The first floor houses a lobby and waiting area, medical exam rooms, dental treatment rooms and X-ray stations. The second floor is home to Aims Counseling Services, with offices, meeting spaces and private soundproof counseling rooms. There is a reconfigurable multipurpose room for workshops and events. The facility also includes comfortable gathering areas, a quiet room and an outdoor meditation garden where students can recharge between classes.
