On November 12, 2025, a beam-signing ceremony was held to mark a milestone in the construction project. The topping off of the final beam marks the completion of the main structural framework of a building, a major step in the construction process.

“We know students don’t just need books and classrooms to succeed. They need to be healthy. They need access to care, without barriers, without long waits, and without choosing between a doctor’s visit and a day of class,” said Dr. Leah L. Bornstein, Aims Community College CEO and President. “That’s why this center matters.”

At the new Student Health and Wellness Center, Sunrise Community Health will offer a range of medical and basic dental services to support students and their immediate family members. Aims will also move mental health counseling and case management services to the second floor of the new facility.

The 30,000-square-foot Student Health and Wellness Center is situated in a central, highly visible location. This was made as an intentional decision to normalize health care access and encourage students to seek support without fear or stigma. Its accessible location, combined with warm, welcoming spaces, helps make wellness an integrated part of campus life.

The center features standard medical office areas, including a reception space, waiting areas and private consultation rooms. The space is adaptable to support a range of college events and partnerships, from health fairs and workshops to community outreach and space for emergency response. A multipurpose room can transform from a group therapy space to a lecture hall or event venue, maximizing the building’s use.

Aims construction projects prioritize source materials made in the United States. Choosing these products is a critical decision that directly impacts the budget and timeline. On this project, Aims sourced steel from Wyoming, Arkansas and South Carolina, which was fabricated in Denver. Electrical gear and mechanical rooftop units were both manufactured in Texas, ensuring reliable supply chains and high production standards.

Design work for the project was led by SmithGroup, with construction managed by Fransen Pittman. The project is set to be completed in the Fall of 2026.
