Aims Community College has named Dr. Andrea DeCosmo vice president of Academic Affairs and chief academic officer.

Dr. Andrea DeCosmo Selected to Lead Academic Affairs at Aims Community College

DeCosmo, who joined Aims in 2022, brings more than 25 years of higher education experience spanning faculty, department chair, dean and administrative leadership roles.
Throughout her career, DeCosmo has focused on expanding educational opportunity, strengthening academic quality and creating systems that help faculty and students succeed. At Aims, she has provided strategic leadership across several areas of Academic Affairs, including learning environments, the Faculty Teaching and Learning Center, Learning Commons, career and technical education programs, academic accessibility, and data functions. She has also led collegewide work related to curriculum development, program review and viability, curricular assessment, faculty qualifications, academic policies and accreditation.

Bornstein. “Her collaborative leadership and forward-thinking approach will help shape the future of learning at Aims and ensure our academic programs continue to meet the evolving needs of our students and communities.”
Before joining Aims, DeCosmo spent 13 years at Front Range Community College, serving as dean of instruction, mathematics department chair and a faculty member. Earlier in her career, she led statewide initiatives in developmental education redesign, equity-minded teaching, STEM pathways, and math curriculum alignment, collaborating closely with faculty and student services to improve outcomes for underrepresented students.
DeCosmo earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado, a Master of Education in Mathematics Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Saint Mary’s College.
As vice president of Academic Affairs and chief academic officer, DeCosmo will work closely with Aims leadership, faculty, staff, students and community partners to guide academic strategy and ensure Aims continues providing high-quality educational opportunities that meet the evolving needs of Northern Colorado.
