New and re-elected Aims Community College Board of Trustees (BOT) members took the oath of office and stepped into their roles at the December Board meeting.

Aims Community College Swears in New and Re-elected Trustees
Serving District C is Marilyn Schock, who is starting her second term on the Board. For District D, the new trustee is Rhonda Solis and for District E, the new trustee is Marcella Mieczkowski.
“Watching this Board take the oath today reminds me how much momentum Aims has,” said Dr. Leah L. Bornstein, Aims Community College CEO and President. “Each trustee brings a depth of experience that will push us forward.”
About the New and Re-elected Trustees
Marilyn Schock earned an Associate of Applied Science from Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyoming. She attended the University of Wyoming and continued her education at Colorado State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and a Master’s of Business Administration.
Since then, Schock has been instrumental in advancing health care in northern Colorado. She has held leadership roles at Banner Health, UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital, and UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies. Schock has most recently been the driving force in building and leading UCHealth Greeley Hospital, where she currently serves as President. After a vote, she was reappointed as Board Chair.
Rhonda Solis brings over 30 years of management, community outreach and customer service experience. She is a longtime Greeley resident and a graduate of Greeley West High School. She is a graduate of the Latino Leadership Institute at Denver University and Leadership Northern Colorado.
She has volunteered on several nonprofit boards and commissions and has served two terms on the Greeley-Evans School District Board. Additionally, she served for two years on the State Board of Education, representing Colorado's 8th Congressional District.
Marcy (Marcella) Mieczkowski is a Colorado native, retired teacher, crafter, small business owner and world traveler. Marcy earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Bilingual Education and master's degree in Special Education/Learning Disabilities from the University of Northern Colorado (UNC).
Throughout her career, Marcy has taught at various levels, including preschool, elementary, junior high, high school, middle school and has also served as a guest lecturer at UNC. Marcy also spent three years teaching at Shandong International High School in Jinan, China.
Two other board members, Jeannine Truswell and Heidi Windell, both have terms that conclude in 2027. Truswell was named Secretary of the Board and Windell continues as the Treasurer and Foundation Board Liaison.
Outgoing Board Members include Dr. Gene O'Hara, who served on the Board for 8 years, and Cristóbal (Chris) Garcia, who served on the Board for four months. Schock recognized them both for their service. “Chris’s insights, perspective and passion continued to help all of us make a difference and make Aims a much better place,” she said. “Gene’s commitment, leadership, service, and volunteerism are admirable. We're gonna miss you, but your impact will be felt for years.”
About the Aims Board of Trustees
A five-member Board of Trustees governs the Aims Community College District. This includes most of Weld County, as well as small portions of Adams, Broomfield, Larimer, Logan and Morgan counties. The Board is composed of one member from each of the five districts.
