Part-Time Instructor: History

Educational Background:

Steve Stager earned a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. with a focus in Church History in 1995. He received a Master's of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton MA in 1978 with a focus in human relations and spirituality. His Bachelor’s degree in History was awarded by Wittenberg University, with a focus in Ancient and Medieval Western Civilization. He spent his junior year studying European History and German in Basel, Switzerland. All three degrees were awarded cum laude.

Professional Background

Steve has taught students of all ages for 45 years. An ordained minister since 1978, he has taught spirituality, theology, Christian life and practice, interpersonal skills, history and Biblical studies. He has also trained pastors in Moscow, Russia and Chennai, India. After retiring from the ministry, he joined the faculty at Aims in January of 2011. He has taught history, humanities and AAA. He has also tutored in composition with the Writer’s Community. His specialty in history has been Western Civilization, though he has also taught World History, American History and the History of Christianity. 

Personal Interests

Steve and his wife Sylvia enjoy camping, skiing, hiking, motorcycling and kayaking. He competed in USTA Tennis for about 10 years in his younger years. Steve and Sylvia have two adult daughters, Aimee and Katherine, and a granddaughter, Violet who is keeping them young. Although Steve grew up in six different states and has lived in twelve different cities/towns, Colorado has become home. He and Sylvia love the mountains and get away to them as often as possible.
