The event takes place Tuesday, March 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Aims Fort Lupton Campus, 260 College Avenue. The open house features hands-on activities, demonstrations and more.

Highlights of the event include opportunities to meet farm animals at a petting farm hosted by the Aims Agriculture Club, featuring sheep, goats, alpacas and other livestock. Guests can also see newly hatched chicks in the agricultural sciences classroom and learn about poultry care and incubation.

Community partners and organizations will also participate in the open house. Georgia Boys BBQ will be on site with a food truck, while Colorado State University’s Sci on the Fly program will offer engaging science demonstrations related to agriculture. Forward Steps: Realizing Aptitudes will provide immersive virtual reality experiences, and Dairy MAX will share information about dairy farming. The Fort Lupton Public and School Library will also participate in the event.

Several Aims programs will showcase the wide range of careers connected to agriculture. The Aims CDL Training program will feature its commercial truck driving simulator, allowing visitors to experience what it’s like to operate a large truck. The Aims Welding program will also host interactive activities highlighting its role in supporting agricultural industries.

In addition, the Aims Ag Club will be accepting preorders for its annual plant sale during the event.

National Agriculture Day is recognized on March 24, honoring the abundance provided by agriculture and the people behind it, including farmers, ranchers, researchers and many others who contribute to the nation’s food and agricultural systems.

Weld County is one of the top agricultural-producing regions in the nation and the leading agricultural county in Colorado, making the event an opportunity to celebrate the people and industries that sustain the region.

“Agriculture is a cornerstone of our community and economy and we’re excited to invite the public to experience it firsthand,” said Agricultural Sciences and Technology Department Chair Amy McFarland. “Whether you’re a student exploring career options, a community member interested in learning more about where your food comes from, or a child wanting to see farm animals, Ag Day offers something for everyone.”

The Aims Ag Day Open House is free and open to the public, and families, students and community members of all ages are encouraged to attend. For more information, visit events.aims.edu.
