“Sunrise is delighted to honor Aims Community College and Dr. Leah Bornstein as Sunrise’s 2026 Community Health Champions. It is an honor and privilege to work with them brining affordable access to quality care to Aims students and their families,” said Mitzi Moran, CEO of Sunrise Community Health.

The awards were officially presented on August 18 at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland. Annually, Sunrise Community Health recognizes a Community Health Champion, individuals and organizations that have contributed to Sunrise through their actions, advocacy and financial support. Sunrise believes that many people in the community deserve recognition for the ways they support its mission, model of care, team members and patients.

“I am honored by this recognition and proud of the collective effort behind it,” Bornstein said.  “No one organization or person can address every challenge students face, but through strong partnerships, we can create support systems that help students remain healthy and reach their goals.”

In 2024, Aims Community College and Sunrise Community Health formed a partnership to provide on-campus medical and dental care to Aims students. Planning began to take shape for the development and construction of the Student Health and Wellness Center on the Aims Greeley Campus. Construction on the project began in May 2025 along 20th Street. The center is set to open next month, with an open house event scheduled for Friday, September 25, from 3-5 p.m.

The Aims Student Health and Wellness Center brings medical, dental and mental health services together in one welcoming, convenient location. Through the partnership with Sunrise Community Health, students and their immediate family members have access to primary care, health screenings, diagnostic services and basic dental care. Aims counseling, case management, recovery support and group therapy services will also be available to students at the facility.

“The Aims Student Health and Wellness Center is a symbol of our commitment to support students holistically, recognizing that educational success relies on overall well-being,” Bornstein said. “I cannot wait to see it open its doors and begin serving our students and their families.”
