  • Take the first step toward Police Officer Certification and earn a POST board accredited police academy certificate at Aims, which is required to become a certified police officer in Colorado. In two semesters, learn basic law enforcement techniques, including arrest and control, driving, and conducting investigations. This certificate can be earned in 1 or 2 semesters. The 1 semester Peace Officer Academy Certificate is not Financial Aid eligible.
  • The Aims Peace Officer Academy Certificate program gives you the expert training to become a police officer at one of the lowest tuition rates in Colorado. The academy will also prepare you to take the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) exam, which is required in order to work as a police officer.
  • Philosophy

    Associate of Arts
    Get introduced to the theoretical and practical questions, meaning and methods of philosophy, ethics and logic. Study the concepts, ideas and implications within religious worldviews and theories of value of the natural world and ideas of death and dying. This is a liberal arts degree with designation (DWD).
  • Gain the skills to become a phlebotomist at a hospital, clinic, lab or medical practice. Study and practice venipuncture, capillary puncture and special collection procedures, and learn quality control, infection prevention and laboratory computer systems.
  • Physics

    Associate of Science
    Study kinematics, dynamics, and conservation laws applying classical physics to both mathematical and conceptual problems including 1D and 2D kinematics, Newton’s Laws, rotational motion, energy and work, momentum and impulse, and simple harmonic motion. Learn the physics of electricity and magnetism using conceptual and mathematical reasoning, including calculus, Maxwell’s equations, waves and time-varying circuits. This is a liberal arts degree with designation (DWD).
  • Learn basic and advanced pipe welding techniques. Gain skills in evaluating and solving complex welding and fabrication problems.
  • Learn the fundamentals of plastics analysis related to automotive damage repair. Learn inspection and repair of plastic body components and other plastic items found in today’s vehicles.
  • Police Studies

    Associate of Applied Science
    Working as a police officer requires honesty and integrity when working with the public and conducting investigations. The Aims Police studies program teaches you how to deal with the challenges and highlights of police work as you undergo rigorous physical and academic training to prepare for the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) exam.
  • Political Science

    Associate of Arts
    Study political philosophy and ideology, democratic and non-democratic governments and processes, and international relations, the U.S. Constitution, the philosophy of American government, general principles of the Constitution, federalism, and civil liberties. Learn about public opinion and citizen participation, political parties, interest groups, electoral process, and the structure and functions of the national government along with domestic political systems, developments, themes, and events across developed and developing countries and regions while applying the comparative method to identify similarities and differences. This is a liberal arts degree with designation (DWD).
  • This optional 4-credit certificate course allows you to transition out of the nursing associate degree program by earning a practical nursing certificate. Study the scope of practice for a practical nurse, including communication, ethical and legal issues, and leadership skills while gaining experience in a clinical setting.

    Upon passing this certificate course, you’ll be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Students need to be enrolled in or have completed a nursing program to register for this certificate.
