Aims has two programs available to train you to safely dispense medications in a variety of care settings in accordance with regulations. Depending on your prior experience and area of expertise, you can choose between the Colorado Medication Aide (COMA) training program and the Qualified Medication Aide (QMAP) training program.

Colorado Medication Aide Training Program & QMAP Course
The Colorado Medication Aide (COMA) Training Program is designed to equip individuals with the essential knowledge and skills required to become competent medication aides in healthcare settings within the state of Colorado. This comprehensive course combines theoretical learning with practical hands-on training to ensure students are proficient in administering medications safely and effectively.
This course is suitable for individuals aspiring to become certified medication aides in the state of Colorado who have already been working as Certified Nurse Aides.

- Recognizing adverse reactions
- Possess an active, unencumbered Colorado nurse aide certification
- Possess a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma
- Be no less than 18 years of age
- Complete no less than 1000 hours of documented work as a CNA within the last 24 months or the equivalent for individuals from the United States military
- Possess a recommendation to become a medication aide from the CNA’s current supervising nurse, director of nursing, or nursing home administrator
- Proof of completion of state approved nurse aide training program
- Students will need to pass a basic English and Math test, which will be administered on the first day of class
- Background check/Drug Screening (Student Pays Fee)
- Immunization records
This course is suitable for individuals who already have experience working as Certified Nurse Aides and want to become certified medication aides in the state of Colorado. It is ideal for certified nursing assistants interested in gaining the skills to administer medications in long term care or home health settings.
Upon successful completion of the Colorado Medication Aide Training Program and passing the state certification exam, students will be certified as Medication Aides in the state of Colorado.

- A copy of your CNA license
- A letter of recommendation from your employer recommending you for the program
- A letter from your employer (or former employer) verifying that you have completed 1000 hours as a CNA
*Before starting work at the clinical sites, students will need to prove standard immunizations, submit for a background check, and pass a drug screening.
This Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP) course will teach unlicensed healthcare employees to safely administer medications to patients while verifying, communicating and documenting the process.
This course is taught by experienced professionals and includes online learning from Nearpods emailed out to you by the instructor which will include textbook work, online quizzes and other learning tools, real-life applications (lab time), and QMAP test.

This program is ideal for healthcare professionals such as nursing assistants, medical assistants, caregivers, and other allied healthcare workers employed or interested in working in residential care settings, such as:
- Assisted living residences
- Alternative care facilities
- State certified adult day programs
- Residential child care facilities
- Developmentally disabled programs (with additional training)
There is no certification with this course, but you become registered with the State of Colorado showing you are qualified to administer medications in designated care settings.
