Gain Essential Aircraft Maintenance and Repair Skills With an Airframe or Powerplant Certificate
Certificates are an alternative to degree programs that allow you to develop new skills that can help you launch or level up your career. These two Aims certificates in the Aircraft Maintenance Technician program teach you how to research, troubleshoot and repair components related to the airframe and powerplant on a variety of aircraft. Successful completion of the program will prepare you to sit for a series of FAA-written certification exams as well as a series of oral and practical exams administered by an FAA-designated Mechanic Examiner for certification.
Airframe Certificate
This certificate program teaches you the core skills to become an airframe maintenance technician on aircraft. Learn the tools, materials, and processes to inspect and repair aviation airframe systems, including electrical components, surfaces and structures, landing gear, hydraulics, and pneumatics, flight controls, rotorcraft, avionics and other aircraft systems.

AMT-1101 - Aircraft Drawing
Introduces drawings, blueprints, and schematics for repairing or altering aircraft systems. Introduces precision measuring instruments and tooling. This course also covers topics in preparation for the National Coalition Certification Centers (NC3) Precision Measuring Certificate. AMT-1103 - Materials, Hardware, and Processes
Introduces aircraft materials, heat treatment, metalworking, hardware, safety wire techniques, soldering methods, material compatibility, and identification markings. Introduces the causes of corrosion and methods to prevent and treat corrosion in aircraft structures. Introduces application, maintenance, and repair of aircraft structural wood and fabric covering materials. Introduces the operation, troubleshooting and repair of aircraft electrical systems with emphasis on alternators, motors, lighting systems and the wiring as well as control and circuit protection devices. This course also introduces basic avionics, which includes communication, navigation systems, flight instrument theory and operation and the inspection, maintenance, and installation requirements for these systems. Introduces materials and principles of aircraft flight control rigging and the replacement of structural aircraft components. AMT-2106 - Aircraft Systems
Introduces airframe systems. This course includes cabin atmospheric control systems, ice and rain control systems, fire warning and extinguishing systems, aircraft waste and water systems, and aircraft fuel systems with a focus on inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining these systems.
