Earn an Associate Degree in Engineering Science at Aims

Are you looking for an affordable way to earn a four-year engineering degree? The Aims associate degree in engineering science is designed for students who will transfer upon completion to pursue their bachelor’s and beyond. Thanks to a transfer articulation agreement with the Colorado School of Mines, students who choose this path at Aims can earn the first two years of an undergraduate engineering degree at considerable tuition savings and close to home.

In our rapidly-advancing technological world, we need well-trained engineers to apply theoretical thinking and practical skills to bring big, complex ideas into reality. Engineers develop solutions to the world’s most challenging technical problems by applying the principles of math and science, helping our world move forward in a wide variety of industries including medicine, power generation, aerospace, military, aeronautics, automotive, environment, and even entertainment.

Because the Colorado School of Mines offers several categories of engineering degrees, specialized majors are declared upon transfer. If you opt to transfer to another four-year college or university, you will need to work closely with your Aims advisor to map out which classes are guaranteed to transfer to that institution.

There's always a need for engineers and technicians. Look at the growth of technology within all areas of business – they need engineers in robotics and automation, as well as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and civil engineering. And we have to replace the engineers that are beginning to retire now with a new generation.
--David Sordi, Aims Sustained Industrial Technology & Energy Instructor

Note that the transfer agreement for this engineering associate degree does not guarantee entry to the School of Mines. This program gives you an affordable pathway to earn credit and make yourself attractive to this prestigious and highly-competitive engineering school.

Looking To Start Your Career Sooner?

If you prefer to enter the workforce immediately after finishing your two years at Aims, you can enroll in the Industrial Technology Associate Degree or explore that program’s related certificates instead of pursuing the Associate of Engineering Science degree.

While the industrial technology degree can transfer to a participating Colorado four-year school, it is also a proven path to pursuing entry-level manufacturing jobs so you can launch your career and start earning sooner.

Gain the Skills You Need to Transfer to a Four-Year Program

Gain knowledge and skills in engineering science that you can apply in many undergraduate and advanced engineering degree programs, including:

  • Modeling
  • Programming
  • Design
  • Industrial technologies
