International/Non-US Citizens
All petitioners who are not U.S. citizens can be classified in one of the following categories:
- Eligible to Establish Domicile
- Lawful Permanent Residents: Proof of Green Card required (domicile may begin with receipt of form I-485*)
- Other Lawful Status (Includes Refugee and Asylees): Proof of I-94 required
- Non-Immigrant Visitors: Proof of Visa required. This excludes F, M, and J visa categories.
*Note: An individual who has not yet received a Resident Alien Card, but has filed an Application for Adjustment of Status (I-485), may establish domicile during the pending status. However, the tuition classification cannot be changed until receipt of the Permanent Resident Card.
- Not Eligible to Establish Domicile:
- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
- No citizenship documentation required
- DACA students may qualify for In-State tuition classification under ASSET. Must have graduated from a Colorado high school or received their GED in Colorado. If a student does not qualify for ASSET, then their residency status will be Out-of-State. DACA students cannot establish domicile for tuition classification purposes.
- No Lawful Status/Undocumented
- No citizenship documentation required
- Undocumented students may qualify for In-State residency status rates under ASSET. Must have graduated from a Colorado high school or received their GED in Colorado. If a student does not qualify for ASSET, then their residency status will be Out-of-State. Undocumented students cannot establish domicile for tuition classification purposes.
- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
