How to Enroll at Aims Community College

Step 1: Activate Your Aims Account

Watch your email for instructions to activate your Okta account (email will come from okta-noreply@aims.edu). It will be sent to the personal email account you used to apply to Aims. Okta is a one-stop shop for all the software applications (Okta tiles) you may use at Aims.

Two Okta tiles that you’ll need to know about right away are Google Workspace Mail (your Aims email) and Workday.

You must activate your account within 48 hours of receiving the email. If you miss this 48-hour window, please call our Help Desk at (970) 339-6380.

Step 2: Onboarding

Once you’ve logged into Okta, click on the Workday tile (or application). You will be prompted to work through a series of steps under the heading “Awaiting your Action” to ensure you are setting up your student account at Aims.

Step 3: Register for Orientation

Sign up to attend orientation right before the semester starts. In-person attendance is strongly encouraged, and if necessary, online is available.

Step 4: Apply for Financial Aid

This is optional, but it's free to apply.

Complete the FAFSA or CASFA to receive federal or state financial aid, checking the websites for current deadlines.

You may qualify for:

It's best to apply at least two months before classes begin. Many students apply as early as January to get help paying for classes that start in August.

Step 5: Share Academic History, Prepare to Meet Pathway Advisor

Most new students are required to meet with a Pathway Advisor prior to registering for their first semester.

Aims uses a directed self-placement approach to help students select their initial English and Math courses. Pathway Advisors use multiple measures to help guide students through self-placement. See the Multiple Measures Assessments page for more information on different scores, transcripts, and tools that are helpful for this discussion.

If you have prior credit from concurrent enrollment, AP or CLEP scores, prior colleges or universities, etc an unofficial transcript is very helpful to have for your meeting with your Pathway Advisor.

Please note that for transfer credits to be awarded, college, AP, or College Board transcripts must be official and submitted to the Registration & Records department at transfer@aims.edu.

Step 6: Meet with Pathway Advisor, Register for Classes

Once you’ve shared your academic history, you’re ready to meet with your Pathway Advisor. You can view your Advisor’s information in your support network in Workday by following the directions provided in your new student onboarding step called “Reminder to Schedule Appointment with Advising” or call (970) 339-6443.

Once you’ve met with your advisor, you can register for classes online in your Workday account.

Step 7: Pay Tuition and Fees

  • Learn about payment options
  • View your bill and financial aid status on your myAims account. Log into Workday and click on the Finances tab
  • Complete one of the payment options by the posted payment deadlines
