Advising FAQ

There are many different types of holds. Change of address/returned mail, Selective Service, and tuition/fees balances are the most common types of holds that will restrict registration for classes. Contact your Student Success Coach for assistance.
 

If you have a personal Gmail account, you will need to log out of that account to be able to access your Aims email. This may require you to log out of your account on multiple devices.

Once you are logged out of your personal Gmail account, you can log in to your myAims account. Click on the email icon in the upper right-hand corner. Your Aims Gmail login will be the same as your myAims username @aims.edu. The password default is the same as your myAims account password.

In case it still redirects you to your personal email, you may try going to Gmail.com and selecting “add another account” and use your Aims login information. You may also try the steps on a different internet browser that does not have your personal Gmail credentials saved or try using an "incognito window" through Google Chrome.

Yes, most times you'll need an appointment. If you know your assigned Student Success Coach, they have a unique calendar link they can give you where you can schedule a time that works for you. If you only have a quick question, email your Student Success Coach to see if they may have a drop in time available.
 

Reach out to your Student Success Coach for the best way to meet. Every Student Success Coach has a unique calendar link they’ll give you that you can use to schedule the best day and time for you.

Currently Aims has the following types of appointments:

• In-Person: To request an in person appointment, reach out to your Student Success Coach for availability.
• Online via Zoom: To request a Zoom appointment, reach out to your Student Success Coach for availability.

Most of the time, a Student Success Coach's first question will concern your educational plan and what brought you to Aims. What do you want to study at college or what are your educational and career goals?

To help you prepare, it would be good to think about your answers to these questions and review Aims' website and catalog so you are acquainted with our offerings. We also offer more preparation tips on the Meet Your Student Success Coach page.
 

Student Success Coaches are happy to explore your results with you and find a path that fits your career goals and build an educational plan. Career Services also provides many resources on career exploration and more.
 

If you are pursuing Nurse Aide, you do not need to meet with a Health and Human Services Student Success Coach. You need to sign up and attend CNA Orientation. Refer to the Orientation Dates for an upcoming day that works for you.

For Nursing, Rad Tech and Surg Tech, it is VERY important that you meet with your assigned Health and Human Services Student Success Coach regularly. You will want to ensure you have viewed the most up-to-date orientation and admissions standards set by the program for the current admissions cycle. Your Student Success Coach will assist you with creating an educational plan and much more.

If you are under 17 and have not graduated from high school or completed your GED you must meet with a High School to Aims (HS2Aims) Student Success Coach. Request to schedule an advising appointment by emailing hs2aims@aims.edu or calling us at 970-339-6580, select option 1.
