Program Destinations

Aims’ Japan Study Abroad Program offers an immersive experience through some of Japan’s most dynamic and culturally rich cities, beginning in the nation’s capital.

Tokyo

In the capital, students experience a blend of tradition and modern energy, from the serene grounds of Meiji Shrine to the vibrant streets of Harajuku and Shibuya, known for fashion, youth culture, and iconic cityscapes. The historic atmosphere of Asakusa, home to Senso-ji Temple, provides a glimpse into Japan’s past. Time in Tokyo also includes cultural exchange opportunities in Moriya and visits to academic institutions, businesses, and Tokyo DisneySea.

Osaka

Travel continues via the Shinkansen Bullet Train to Osaka, a city celebrated for its food culture and lively atmosphere. Highlights include the historic Osaka Castle and the bustling district surrounding Tsutenkaku.

Hiroshima

From Osaka, excursions lead to Hiroshima, where visits to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and the scenic Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island offer both reflection and natural beauty.

The experience also includes a stop in Himeji to explore the renowned Himeji Castle, one of Japan’s most well-preserved feudal castles. With opportunities for free exploration and optional visits to nearby cultural hubs like Kyoto or Nara, the journey balances structured sightseeing with personal discovery, ending in Osaka with a well-rounded view of Japan’s urban excitement, historical depth, and regional diversity.
